Tuning, cleaning, and care for your piano.

Fine tuning and pitch maintenance is the heart of what I do.

Tuning & Cleaning Appointments

A precision fine tuning on its own, or a professional deep cleaning followed by a fine tuning.

All prices shown are before sales tax.

Basic

Standard Fine Tuning

$225about 2 hours

A precision fine tuning of every string on your piano, listening for a high level of detail in each and every note — how each string matches its partners, and how each note works together with the notes around it. Finished the way it should end: by playing the piano and listening to the instrument as a whole.

Please read: if the piano is more than 8 cents off pitch, a pitch correction (+$100) is required first. Usually needed for new clients. Book a Tuning
Premium

Tuning & Professional Deep Cleaning

$525about 4 hours

Meticulous exterior hand polishing and an in-depth cleaning of the interior — action, keys, key bed, and soundboard (grands), with accessible rust removed from the strings — followed by a precision fine tuning. Recommended every 4–5 years.

Pitch correction: +$100. If the piano is more than 8 cents off pitch at the start of the appointment, it needs a pitch correction before it will hold a stable tuning. This is usually necessary for new-client appointments, and for any piano where the last tuning at standard pitch was more than a year ago. How pitch correction works →

$40 off a fine tuning for churches, public school districts, and active music teachers. The piano must be at the church or school, within my service area, and discounts can't be combined.

Repairs & other services

Estimated individually. Request an estimate when you book your next tuning and I'll take a look during the appointment.

String Splice & Replacement

Strings break from time to time due to age or rust — usually during a tuning, since that's when they're being moved and stretched. Repair or replacement is the piano owner's responsibility.

Key Bushing Replacement

If your keys wobble from side to side, the felt bushings that cushion them against the guide pins have likely worn out. Replacing them restores precise, quiet key movement.

Dampp-Chaser Humidity Control

Humidity swings crack wood and rust strings. The Piano Life Saver system creates a stable micro-climate inside the piano, holding your tuning longer and extending the life of the instrument. I'm a certified installer, and systems carry a five-year manufacturer's warranty on parts.

Deep Polishing, Scratch Removal & Refinishing

I partner with master finisher Joshua Miles of JWM Acoustics in Georgetown, who takes on all of his piano finishing and repair work exclusively through Stryke Tuning — from a deep polish and surface scratch removal to a complete refinish in a custom color or exotic veneer. Free refinishing estimates with any tuning appointment.

Frequently asked questions

How often should my piano be tuned?

Most pianos should be tuned every 6–12 months. Pianos lose pitch every year whether played or not, because of seasonal changes in humidity and temperature. Regular tuning is the single best thing you can do for your instrument.

How long does an appointment take?

A standard fine tuning is about a two-hour appointment; tuning with a professional deep cleaning is about four hours. Those windows already allow for a pitch correction if one is needed. In extreme cases a piano may need a follow-up appointment about a month later.

Can I schedule by phone or text?

Tuning appointments are scheduled online only. The scheduling system plans my driving route and offers specifically timed appointments for your area, which keeps pricing fair and appointments on time. It takes only a few minutes, and you can text (512) 843-5883 with questions about your piano.

How do I pay, and when?

Payment is due at the time of service. Cash or check is preferred; I also accept Venmo, Apple Cash, and credit cards. Churches and public school districts may pay by invoice if absolutely necessary.

What areas do you serve?

Georgetown, Round Rock, Leander, Liberty Hill, Hutto, Pflugerville, North Austin, and other surrounding areas. Enter your address and select services on the scheduling page to confirm availability for your location.

Do you move pianos?

No — and I recommend you only ever use a professional piano mover. I'm happy to recommend one.
